Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I calculate the amount of carpet I need?

    Just follow these easy steps.

    1.    Calculate your square footage – this is done by multiplying the length of the area by the width of the area: 10 x 20 booth space will be 200 sq ft.
    2.    You will then need to calculate the carpet needed to cover the square footage.

    • If your carpet is 12’ wide, and your area is 10 x 20, you will have to purchase a 12 x 20 to cover the area = 240 sq ft.
    • If your carpet is 10’ wide, you will then order 200 sq ft.

    3.    It is always safe to order an extra foot of carpet to insure you are totally covered in your area.

  2. Is it better to rent or purchase exhibit/event carpet?

It depends on your short-term or long-term needs. It is more cost-effective to rent carpet if your schedule of exhibits is minimal.

However, if you have several planned activities over a scope of time, you could experience significant cost-savings by purchasing.

That said, your show carpeting will take considerable abuse since it's installed multiple times, cut for electrical cords, and shipped.

  3. How can I get versatile use of my carpet?

While carpeting is one of the most budget-friendly flooring options, there are many inventive, cost-effective solutions to transform the floor for other non-trade show projects:

    • Dyeing carpet to custom PMS colors,
    • Binding
    • Icorporating custom inlays or logos

  4. How can I extend the longevity of my carpet use?

Taking care of your carpet during storage and transportation will extend the longevity of the carpet. Here are a few tips:

    1. Store and ship in carpet bags
    2. Store carpet on cores. This is very important – NEVER fold your carpet during storage or transportation
    3. Store in a dry storage
    4. Clean carpet before storing
    5. Remove stains as soon as they happen
    6. Repair all holes after each event
  5. There are so many flooring options! How do I know which one is right for me?

In choosing the right exhibit flooring, consider what meets your budget, supports the design, and maximizes usage.

Some factors include: rent vs. purchase based on short-term or long-term usage needs, applicable custom elements to the product, durability of the product for the space and traffic, and whether the product complements the overall design aesthetic and more.

Exhibit flooring can be confusing. Give us a call or send us an email to review all your flooring options.

  6. I need a product that installs quickly. What are my flooring options?

There are numerous products out there that offer a quick and convenient install.

Traditional carpet flooring is one of the most convenient products to install. However, other products such as interlocking tiles and rollable flooring, such as FlexFloor, offer versatile and creative solutions at a reduced installation time.

If you don't see what you want in the Flooring Gallery, please give us a call or send us an email. There are more options than those shown in the online gallery.

  7. Is flooring that important to an exhibit space?

Yes. Great exhibits are built on great flooring. Flooring not only helps infuse the design of the exhibit space from the ground up, but also sets the foundation to the functionality of your actual exhibit -- keeping the space sturdy or level.

Flooring also impacts the comfort of your booth personnel and attendees. For example, in a show with long exhibit hours, choosing 10’ Advantage carpet in a 30 oz – 50 oz face weight with Ultra Step padding will provide premium quality and comfort for those long hours of standing. You’ll be surprised at how often an attendee will step into your booth and immediately say, “Ahhh! Now this is a comfortable floor!”

The right attitude makes for an easier sale.

Exhibit Weight

Exhibit Weight varies depending on the packaging and the shipping method. Variables include but are not limited to:
  • Dimensional Weight vs. Actual Weight: Dimensional weight is defined as crate or case size. On most air shipments, the dimensional weight exceeds the actual weight
  • Portable Cases vs. Wood Crates or Molded Tubs (where applicable): Exhibit designs that require one wood crate would require multiple portable cases. Selecting one vs. the other affects the total weight (dimensional or actual).
  • Freight Carrier: LTL carriers (Less than Truckload) quote freight based on space used. UPS, FedEx, and air freight carriers quote freight based on either the dimensional or the actual weight of the shipment.
  • Freight Service Level (number of days): Service levels range from Same Day Delivery to Two Week Delivery.
